There are two ways to set up target detection for TRACE 10.

I. Automatic target detection (recommended)

Starting TRACE App v.1.2. (2308) our software allows to use automated target detection in order to start training faster. Please follow these steps to use autodetection feature:

1. Start the training session
2. In the toolbar find a 'View' and selection 'Settings' from the menu it opens
3. In settings window go to 'Target detection' section
4. Make sure you have enabled the volume on your computer
5. Adjust the TRACE 10 sensor focus so that target would be clearly distinguishable on screen
6. Adjust brightness to achieve best contrast
7. Prepare yourself for shooting; take the starting position and prepare to aim as you would do for your every in-training shot
8. Click 'Auto Detect radiuses'. You will see countdown from 5 to 1. While it counts, start aiming at the target as you normally would. It is important that by the end of the countdown your gun aims at the target and TRACE 10.

You will hear beeping; that means that the autodetection feature collects data. Aim at the target while it beeps (normally some 5 secondss).

9. When it stopped, check the results.

IMPORTANT! To acheive better results please avoid executing auto-detect while your pistol or rifle lies on the table or on the weapon stand. Autodetection should occur in real circumstances (as if you would normally aiming).

Here is the video that shows the described steps:
Scenario II. Setting up target detection manually

If you are using TRACE App version older than v.1.2. (2308) or automatic target detection didn't work for your shooting environment, you can always set up your detection manually.

To do this please follow these steps.

1. Make sure that TRACE 10 is aimed at the target
2. Adjust the TRACE 10 sensor focus so that target would be clearly distinguishable on screen
3. Make sure brightness is adjusted achieve best contrast
4. Start the training session
5. In the toolbar find a 'View' and selection 'Settings' from the menu it opens
6. In settings window go to 'Target detection' section
7. Adjust values of 'min radius' and 'max radius' so that green circle appears on camera screen.

i. For TRACE App v.1.2. (2308) or older, you will need to click 'Set up radiuses manually' in order to make 'min radius' and 'max radius' editable.

In order to achieve good target detection please follow these principles:
- 'min radius' should always be lower than 'max radius'
- green circle should always be located around black ring on target
- narrow the difference between 'min radius' and 'max radius' until the green circle has stabilized around the black ring; green circle should be jumping around the target.

Below are few examples of good and bad detection.

That's it! Once done, you can proceed with your training by firing a calibration shot.

TRACE 10 sensor has a built in microphone which works to detect the sound of the firing pin or trigger mechanism. Microphone is hidden within TRACE sensor which means it can detect only shots of the weapon the system is mounted on.
TRACE 10 sensor should be connected to the computer via USB 2.0 cable, which is extremely lightweight. Vast majority of computers are equipped with multiple USB ports that TRACE 10 uses to connect to.
TRACE 10 has a universal mount which is designed to be attached to cylindrical objects with diameter of 18 - 36 mm. This makes it versatile for almost any type of air weapon that has air cylinder and most smallbore rifles, as well as other kinds of weapons.
TRACE 10 also can be mounted on such .22 caliber sport pistols as Pardini, Walther SSP and many others.

TRACE 10 helps to simulate live shooting. TRACE 10 sensor detects the click of the firing pin or trigger and registers your shot. This allows you can practice a wide range of shooting disciplines right at home, in dry-fire mode (not firing actual bullets). For this all you need is 3-4m long space and a downscaled paper target, which you can easily print directly from TRACE software.
